Report: Spurs tipped to re-sign former star – and the player won’t rule out move

Tottenham Hotspur had an incredible team under Harry Redknapp back in 2011, the last time they reached the Champions League quarterfinals.

Jermain Defoe and Peter Crouch led the line-up front, with Rafa Van der Vaart, Luka Modric, Aaron Lennon, Jermaine Jenas, and Gareth Bale supporting them all the way.

The side has pace, prowess, clinical finishing and heart, however, Real Madrid came along and purchased the club’s two crown jewels from the team.

Both Bale and Modric made big money moves over to Spain, but could one of them be about to return?

Marca have tipped Tottenham Hotspur to re-sign their old global superstar Gareth Bale this summer, and claim the Welsh winger has never ruled out a return to North London.

With increased crowd hostility towards the attacker, it may finally be time to move on for Bale, despite the fact that he still has three years remaining on his contract.

The only sticking point may be Bale’s wages, and whether he actually wants to leave the Spanish giants, something Marca do not reveal in the report.

Spurs Web Opinion:

If Tottenham can re-sign Bale on loan next season, it would be the dream return for both the fans and the player. I can’t see any permanent move on the cards at the moment due to his high wages and lengthy contract time, but you never know with a loan. If Madrid are keen to please their fans by pushing Bale out the door, they may also be willing to pay some of his wages, if a loan does occur. Perhaps this is more of a dream than a reality though.
