Report: Spurs to be offered World Cup Golden Boot winner in swap deal as Eriksen replacement

Tottenham could be offered the chance to sign James Rodriguez this summer after reports suggest that Real Madrid are set to include the midfielder in any deal for Harry Kane.

Rodriguez is expected to leave the Santiago Bernabeu this summer with Arsenal, Wolves and Everton all said to be interested in bringing him to the Premier League (Marca).

Kane’s future has also been subject to speculation after the striker admitted in an interview on Instagram with Jamie Redknapp recently that he might reconsider his future at Spurs if the team isn’t moving in the right direction.

The England captain is reportedly on the radars of both Real Madrid (Diario Madridista) and Manchester United (Evening Standard) this summer.

Canal RCN now reports (as translated by TBR Football) that Madrid are prepared to offer Rodriguez to Spurs in any deal for the striker.

The report claims that the Columbian international, who won the Golden Boot in the 2014 World Cup, is being eyed by Tottenham as a replacement for Christian Eriksen.

The only way Real Madrid can afford to sign Kane is if they offload multiple players in a swap deal. I don’t believe any club in Europe is going to be able to afford to pay the £200 million it will take for them to prise Kane away from Spurs this summer, given the financial downturn due to the coronavirus shutdown.
