Report: Spurs to hold further talks over Ndombele next week – new bid expected

The Tottenham Hotspur saga surrounding Tanguy Ndombele rumbles on today, with a new report suggesting that Spurs will continue talks with Lyon next week over a transfer.

TalkSPORT claim that Tottenham will submit a new bid of £70m for the midfield star, as told to them by French football expert Julien Laurens.

Laurens said: “Next week Spurs and Lyon have tabled more talks. The second offer from Spurs will probably come in, which I believe will be the right offer – £70million with bonuses included.

“He will be perfect [for Spurs]. It’s exactly the kind of player that Pochettino likes. He is very powerful, a box-to-box midfielder, who could also sit deep a bit and get that power in front of the back four to protect it.

“He can go forward and he’s so good on the ball.

“He’s still very young as well. He’s only 22 and four years ago he was playing in the French fifth division. He’s got all the qualities to do well in the Premier League.”

Lyon are apparently willing to sell their star man this summer, but are determined to get the right price for him.

This comes after Sky Sports reported in the last week that Tottenham had already agreed a £65m fee with Lyon for Ndombele.

The Sun added that Ndombele had already been given a tour around the Spurs training facilities by manager Mauricio Pochettino.

Lyon president, Jean-Michel Aulus, cast doubt on these reports by stating that Tottenham made an opening offer of just €45m, but no deal had been agreed (Telegraph).

With so many contrasting reports, it is difficult to tell whether Tottenham are close to getting their primary target or not.
