Report: Spurs to make new bid for wide-man after January offer was rejected

Football Insider have revealed that Tottenham Hotspur are now set to submit a fresh offer for Southampton starlet Thierry Small after their efforts to sign him in January were knocked back.

Thierry Small joined Scottish side St Mirren on loan in January and has excelled up north, operating both as a left-back and a left-winger this season.

Spurs had previous Small bid rejected

According to Football Insider, Tottenham had an £800,000 offer for the teenager rejected before he moved to Scotland, with Southampton demanding £1.2m for him at the time.

The report states that the North London club are now set to make a fresh offer for Small when the transfer window opens, with the Lilywhites already said to have informed the player’s representatives of their intention to do.

However, it is asserted that Spurs are expected to face competition from Rangers as well as St Mirren for the 18-year-old, with the Glasgow giants also allegedly asking Southampton to be kept informed of the developments.

While Destiny Udogie would be expected to compete for a place in the starting eleven next season, Spurs likely view Small as one for the future.

If Tottenham do win the race for the teenager, I would not be surprised if they loaned him out to an EFL club or back to the Scottish Premiership.
