Report: Spurs recall youngster and want to loan him out to new English club

Tottenham have recalled striker Kion Etete from his spell at Northampton Town and plan to loan him out to Cheltenham Town, according to Gloucestershire Live.

The 20-year-old has spent half a season with the Cobblers tallying six goals across 23 appearances in all competitions, which has lifted Jon Brady’s side to second in League Two.

However, Gloucestershire Live claim that Etete’s impressive performances have caught the eye of parent club Tottenham, who have now confirmed his recall.

Spurs reportedly intend to loan him back out to a League One outfit continue his experience for the rest of the campaign at a higher level, with Cheltenham tipped to be his next destination.

Etete’s imminent arrival is set to be a boost for the Robins who are sitting 15th in the table, after the club recently lost a number of attacking players due to injury and expiring contracts.

Etete has enjoyed a decent first half of the season and, hopefully, he can continue that with Cheltenham. Spurs have obviously realised that he needs more of a challenge and a step up in division will definitely give that to him.
