Report: Spurs to return for striker after club rejects initial bid

Tottenham are said to be determined to return with another offer for Fenerbahce striker Vedat Muriqi after their initial approach was rebuffed.

Turkish publication Aksam reports that Spurs have identified the 25-year-old as the man to replace the injured Harry Kane and their resolve to land him hasn’t been dampened by Fenerbahce’s reluctance to sell him.

The report claims the Turkish club had already rejected offers from both Tottenham and Burnley to sell Muriqi this month.

The Kosovo international has been in fantastic form for Fenerbahce this season, having netted 12 goals in 19 games in all competitions (transfermarkt).

The report asserts that the Lilywhites are preparing a new offer in excess of £20m for the centre forward.

They will be hoping that the increased offer will be enough to tempt Fenerbahce to part ways with the prolific striker.

Other reports have suggested that Manchester United also hold an interest in bringing Muriqi to Old Trafford this month (Sabah).

Spurs Web Opinion

Based on the reports coming out, it is clear that we are looking to bring a physical centre forward who can function well as a target man and bring others into play. The likes of Muriqi, Piatek, Cavani and Jose all fit the mould. Whoever it is that we sign, hopefully, they prove to be a valuable squad option even when Kane returns from injury.
