Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly readying an official bid for Sporting Lisbon attacking midfielder, Bruno Fernandes this summer (Metro).

Manchester United are also said to be planning a bid for the playmaker in the coming weeks, with the player’s agent in the UK to hold talks with potential suitors.

Liverpool are also said to be keen on the player but are not tipped to make a bid at this moment in time.

Sporting Lisbon are said to want a whopping £60m for the player this summer, but are yet to receive any official offers.

Spurs could be in the market for a new playmaker this summer if Christian Eriksen moves away from the club.

Eriksen has just one year left on his current deal in North London and has already made it clear that he wants a step up and a new challenge next season (Ekstra Bladet).

Could Bruno Fernandes be the man to replace him?

Spurs Web Opinion:

I would rather bid for a number of other players, including Giovani Lo Celso and Donny van de Beek. However, my favoured move would be a loan deal for Dani Ceballos with an option to buy for next summer.

  1. That’s you opinion mine is Fernandes is the one, he is without doubt the player we need. Just watch him those forward runs past players like their not even there, fantastic passer of the ball especially those through balls, he seems to see a players run before it even happens, physically strong, works hard with and without the ball, can tackle well and he will without doubt score goals. I don’t see him as a Eriksen replacement to me that would be Isco or I trust Poche so Lo Celso would be good. At the minute we have only replaced Mousa all be it with a fantastic player but we still need more because even when Dembele was here we where still missing that 2 or 3 quality players. So we could and should bring in both Lo Celso and Fernandes imo also getting Sessegnon for less and a more solid right back. It wouldn’t be the end of the world if we had to wait for a backup striker, as if we get the rest could you imagine chances they would supply Kane, Son and Lucas with. COYS!

  2. I see Lo Celso more as a central midfield playmaker (saying that Eriksen was like that when he was at Ajax) and agree on Van De Beek, or Ziyech (Ziyech being Muslim is a worry with Ramadan starting 23rd April next year and coming forward 11 days each year after which could affect our season closing out) or Rodrigo De Paul.

I also like Bruno Fernandes but for sure he will take a season or two to adapt to the prem, I would side with Lo Celso because I think Fernandes is very similar to Dele, and think Lo Celso will compliment Alli better as hes more terrier like moving forward, which I think we need. We have seen time and again, that where teams sometimes settle around Eriksen, how much Lamela can throw big team defences off their rhythm, because he moves and harasses constantly in the same terrier like fashion. Lo Celso looks much more in that mould to me and also is coming from La Liga where players tend to transition well from the prem, although I am a believer that trends and stats are there to be shot at, a hell of a lot of players show beast mode in the Portuguese premiera liga and can’t reproduce it in the prem. Also Fernandes takes a hell of a lot of shoots from range which you can’t do so much of when you have Kane, Alli and Son up ahead.

Fernandes looks to have good deadballs though which we will need

  3. PS Ceballos I think is a mistake, we’ve seen time and again that Barcelona/Madrid players never really stop being Real and Barca players, they will push to return there at the drop of a hat. This is a rare summer where we have several playmaking options in our price and attraction brackets (Van De Beek and De Paul are more than affordable playmakers asa is Ziyech), do we squander that opportunity to take Ceballos on loan, knowing hes way behind the others, and next summer probably not have any playmakers available in our price range? Remember when Liverpool lost Suarez and Coutinho they couldn’t attract creative replacements on either occasion, because none were available that they wanted and could afford.

I think Ceballos could be a great loan squad player in addition to one of the 3 available guys, but I wouldn’t want to depend on him over any of those 3. My choice would be Lo Celso and VDB, that would be a fierce improvement in our creativity, when we already have plenty of talent in Son, Kane, Lucas and Alli as goalscorers…COYS
