Report: Spurs tracking Premier League striker from another London club

Tottenham Hotspur are now tracking Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham, Duncan Castle has claimed on the Transfer Window Podcast.

The journalist has claimed that Abraham is ‘on the market’ and Tottenham are therefore ‘looking at him’.

It has been reported that Jose Mourinho’s Roma have already agreed a £34m fee to sign the Chelsea striker, with the 23-year-old now having to decide whether he wants to join the Italian club (Sky Sports).

The Athletic’s David Ornstein has reported Abraham wants to stay in London, with Arsenal’s interest in the striker being ‘credible’. Although, it is also said that the situation with the Gunners is ‘complicated’.

The situation could be about to get more complicated if Tottenham decide to join the race.

Since rising through the youth ranks at Chelsea, Abraham has played 82 games for the club in all competitions: scoring 30 goals and grabbing 12 assists.

However, Abraham has failed to gain a first-team place under Thomas Tuchel, struggling to get consistent minutes towards the back end of last season (Transfermarkt).

Castles gave his insight on Tottenham’s stance and the competition they face if they want to secure his signature.

He said (TransferWindowPodcast): “Abraham is on the market and it doesn’t surprise me that Tottenham are looking at him.

“They have competition from Roma. Mourinho would like to bring Tammy Abraham to the club, he has talked to Abraham directly and my guidance was that Abraham said he is interested in Roma’s proposal but he would like some more time to think about it.

“The problem for Roma is that they want to that deal as a loan with an option to buy, they don’t want to commit to the kind of transfer Chelsea are looking for, which is £35 million.

“If Kane leaves, as you expect him to leave, then they would have the advantage over Roma and Arsenal – as they would have the money to put down that Chelsea want for Abraham.”

SpursWeb Opinion

Abraham is a striker who deserves consistent minutes at a good level and Chelsea can’t give him that. Tottenham’s interest doesn’t surprise me given Kane’s situation but Arsenal and especially Roma seem more suited to him.
