Report: Spurs trail Atletico Madrid in race for Marseille midfielder

Tottenham have joined the race to sign Marseille midfielder Boubacar Kamara who could depart the club for free this summer, according to Goal.

Antonio Conte’s men have entered the international break following back-to-back wins in the Premier League, which has maintained their pursuit for a top four finish.

They currently sit fifth in the table just three points behind north London rivals Arsenal, with both teams still to play each other at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium before the season comes to an end.

While the business end of the season is approaching quickly, clubs will already be busy behind the scenes in drawing up their summer transfer targets.

The 22-year-old, who has featured for France at U-21 level, will see his current deal expire at the end of June and will become a free agent as things stand.

Tottenham’s interest is not alone, with Manchester United, Bayern Munich and Atletico Madrid, who are all said to be keeping tabs on developments.

It is reported that Atletico are reportedly favourites to land Kamara’s signature at the end of the season.

Kamara has featured heavily for Marseille this season having played 36 games in all competitions, and has captained the side on five occasions (Transfermarkt).

Spurs should definitely make sure they consider Kamara as he is such a talented prospect in French football. To get him on a free transfer would be big for any club.

But Spurs recently added to central midfield in the form of Rodrigo Bentancur which would make this move a little redundant, but unless there is movement in terms of exits then it would make more sense.
