Report: Spurs transfer target tells club he wants to leave

Tottenham Hotspur have been heavily linked with a move for Giovani Lo Celso even before we took to the field against Liverpool in the Champions League final (BBC).

The midfielder caught the eye during his season-long loan spell at Real Betis having scored 16 goals and provided six assists in 45 games for the La Liga outfit.

His form during the previous campaign saw Betis take up the option of making the switch permanent when they paid PSG £19 million in April (Squawka).

Spanish news outlet ABC de Sevilla have claimed that the 23-year-old has told Betis that it is his wish to leave the club and test himself by playing for a side who regularly feature in the Champions League

Betis are open to allow Lo Celso to depart but want to sell him for a fee of around ABC de Sevilla which is relatively close to his £88 million transfer release clause (BBC) and would represent a huge profit on a player they only signed less than three months ago.

Lo Celso is said to be keen on a move to North London and is interested in playing for his compatriot Mauricio Pochettino (Sky Sports).

Tottenham have already broken their club-record transfer fee once this summer after landing Tanguy Ndombele for £55 million (Guardian) and if they are to land Lo Celso, it is likely that it will be for yet another record amount.
