Report: Spurs tried to send youngster on loan to Denmark in January

Luka Vuskovic may not be eligible to play for Tottenham Hotspur until 2025, but the North London club has still been pulling the strings when it comes to his current situation. Now, it appears Spurs tried to send the young defender on loan to Danish side AaB in January, before moving him to Poland instead.

Last summer, Spurs agreed a deal worth a reported £8.7m for the highly-rated 16-year-old Luka Vuskovic (Football Insider). The centre-half is so young that he cannot actually turn out for the Lilywhites until he turns 18, so he remained with Hajduk Split initially.

However, the decision was made in January to switch things up in order to give Vuskovic more first-team opportunities. The Croatian has now joined Polish side Radomiak Radom until the end of this season (The Athletic).

Apparently, the promising youngster will then spend next season on loan in the Dutch or German league to step up his development.

Move to Denmark didn’t work out for Vuskovic

According to new information from Danish outlet Tipsbladet, Radomiak Radom were not the only option for Vuskovic, with AaB offering to take the defender on loan, too. However, Spurs opted against the switch as they didn’t feel it was the right move.

Apparently, AaB were very interested in taking the “great talent” on and had got in touch with Spurs to discuss the possibility of a loan move.

With Spurs “looking for a place” for Vuskovic, the two clubs “had talks” but it is believed the Danish outfit “did not make the cut” for what Spurs were wanting from Vuskovic’s next club.

To be honest, there isn’t much difference between the Danish and Polish leagues and wherever Vuskovic went at this stage, it’s just important that he’s playing regularly. The destination for his next loan spell will be more important to get right.
