Report: Spurs unable to sign defender due to work permit issues despite successful trial

Romanian publication Mondo Primavera (as translated by Sport Witness) have reported that teenage sensation Kevin Ciubotaru has had trials with several Premier League clubs of late, including Spurs.

The 16-year-old left-back, who is rated highly in his home country, is said to have completed a trial with the Lilywhites in recent weeks, as well as spells at Arsenal, Chelsea, and Watford.

Ciubotaru’s trial at Tottenham was said to be successful and the Lilywhites were reportedly keen on adding him to their squad, while their North London rivals were also said to be sufficiently impressed by the youngster.

However, both clubs have reportedly faced problems related to the defender’s work permit, which means they have been unable to complete the transfer.

The Romanian wonderkid is currently having a trial with Seria A side, Parma and it is claimed that he will train with the club’s under-16 side for the next few weeks before a decision his made on his future.
