Report: Spurs unlikely to push Arsenal for midfielder Nuno is ‘huge fan’ of

The Sun have claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are unlikely to challenge their North London rivals, Arsenal in their pursuit of Ruben Neves.

If reports over recent days are to be believed, Fabio Paratici seems to prioritising addressing Tottenham’s issues at centre-back.

However, the Italian is also rumoured to be keen on bolstering the club’s central midfield ranks, with the Lilywhites being linked with moves for the likes of Franck KessieWeston McKennie and Miralem Pjanic recently.

If the Sun are to be believed, one player Spurs are not likely to pursue this summer is Neves.

The report explains that the Portuguese international’s agent Jorge Mendes is in contact with Arsenal technical director Edu over a deal that will take the midfielder from Molineux to the Emirates this summer.

Despite Nuno being Mendes’ client and the new Spurs head coach being a huge fan of Neves, it is asserted that the Lilywhites are unlikely to push for the 24-year-old’s signature.

It is said that Arsenal hope to get the deal over the line as soon as possible but Wolves’ £35m price tag is proving to be a stumbling block for the Gunners.

Spurs Web Opinion

Neves has received a lot of plaudits for his performances for Wolves over the last three years but I am not convinced that the midfielder is of the quality we need to get back into the top four.

While the fact that he is well-versed with Nuno’s style of play might be a bonus, I would much rather see us go after someone like Yves Bissouma rather than shelling out £35m on Neves.
