Report: Spurs unwilling to meet asking price for Mourinho favourite

According to a report in The Mirror (11 June, page 53), Tottenham cannot afford to meet Chelsea’s £20million valuation of Kurt Zouma.

Jose Mourinho is the man who bought Zouma to Stamford Bridge back in 2014, and it has been reported that the Spurs boss is now keen on bringing the Frenchman to North London (RMC Sport).

The centre-back is said to be a fan of Mourinho’s methodologies and would like to reunite with the Portuguese coach (L’Equipe via Sport Witness).

The Mirror previously reported that the Blues were willing to part ways with the 25-year-old for just £25m this summer as they were keen to balance their books.

The same publication now suggests that Frank Lampard’s side are willing to accept just £20m for the centre-back.

However, it is suggested that Tottenham cannot afford to pay Chelsea’s asking price due to the financial impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The report reveals that Everton are looking to complete another season-long loan deal for Zouma, who spent the 2018-19 season at Goodison Park.

Spurs Web Opinion

It looks as if Jose is after a centre-half who is commanding in the air and can be counted upon to win 50/50s and Zouma certainly fits the bill. I personally believe we should snap Chelsea’s hands off if they are willing to sell him for just £20m this summer as the deal represents great value for money.
