Report: Spurs ‘very interested’ in Portugal international said to be on Arsenal’s radar

Tottenham Hotspur could be set to do battle with North London rivals Arsenal for the signature of Renato Sanches, according to Le10 Sport.

The report claims that the Premier League pair are not alone in their interest, with Barcelona also an admirer of the Lille midfielder, however, the Catalan giants are not expected to make an approach due to their current financial situation.

Sanches has previously played in the Premier League having been labelled as a flop following his stint at Swansea City (Wales Online) and once famously passed the ball to an advertising hoarding, rather than a team-mate (Mirror).

The 23-year-old has overcome the difficult start to his career and has impressed on the international stage with Portugal and was particularly impressive against France in Euro 2020.

Spurs have not made a formal approach for the midfielder but are reported to be ‘very interested’ in the former Bayern Munich man and could look to temp Lille with a convincing offer.

Sanches’ stint at Swansea still sticks in the memory of some supporters and I believe that he is more suited to the continental style of possession, rather than the physical nature of the Premier League.
