Report: Spurs want Conte to build ‘a new era’ at the club – Replacement in mind if he leaves

Football.London have claimed that Tottenham Hotspur want Antonio Conte to build a new era at the club, but could rekindle their interest in Brighton boss Graham Potter if the Italian chooses to depart this summer.

It was reported last week that Conte has offered himself to Paris Saint-Germain on a two-year contract at the end of the season (Le Parisien).

While the Spurs boss dismissed the speculation as ‘fake news’ (Goal), he refused to commit his future to the North London club, stating that he will have a meeting with the Tottenham hierarchy at the end of the season to discuss their future plans (Football.London).

Football.London have now claimed that Spurs want Conte to stay and ‘build a new era’ with the squad. The report also added that ‘Spurs have little choice but to spend well and wisely in a summer’.

However, it is explained that if the 52-year-old does not believe the Lilywhites can close the gap on the likes of Manchester City and Liverpool by doing something clever in the transfer window, he could look to force a departure.

In the event that Conte leaves, it is asserted that Spurs will look towards Potter again after trying to get him to the club last summer before Fabio Paratici’s appointment as managing director.

Spurs Web Opinion

Potter was the man I wanted last summer and he would be a very good replacement for Conte if the Italian walks away.

However, I am not sure that we will go for Potter as the Brighton boss does not seem to fit Paratici’s vision, given the candidates that the Italian spoke to last summer.

I also do not see Paratici and Pocehttino being a natural fit, which is why Levy might have to part ways with Paratici and start afresh if Conte leaves.
