Report: Spurs request to change building which will be taller than the stadium

Tottenham Hotspur are looking to build a new multi-story hotel next to the football stadium, and have now asked to add an extra five stories to the building.

Construction of the state-of-the-art Tottenham Hotspur stadium was completed in 2019 and it now stands as one of the most impressive sporting venues in world football.

The 62,850-seater stadium has played host to a number of other sporting events from boxing to the NFL, and has also seen a range of top musicians take to the stage there.

While performances on the football pitch may have been less than desirable of late, there is no denying Tottenham are among the most shrewdly run clubs in the game.

The commercial side of things has always been a strong point for chairman Daniel Levy, and his ambitions to raise the club’s profile show no sign of letting up.

Tottenham want to add five stories to hotel project

In a new report from Architects Journal, plans have been revealed for Tottenham Hotspur to extend the proposed hotel by five floors and 17 metres in height.

The F3 Architects-designed hotel-and-residential tower will comprise of 180 hotel rooms and 49 residential apartments.

According to the report, these changes will “create a slenderer base and greater separation from the newly built stadium, as well as further defining the blade-like appearance and slenderness of the upper part of the hotel building.”

Spurs were granted the original planning permission for the 22-storey building back in 2016 alongside the football stadium.

The hotel is set to be located just south of the Tottenham Hotspur stadium.

According to Tottenham representatives, the altered plans “take into account developments within the hotel sector, as well as updates in building regulations and planning policy across a number of areas since planning permission was granted.”

Spurs Web Opinion

I really wish even half the energy that is put into the commercial side of things was invested into the actual football club at Tottenham.

We are fast becoming one of the biggest clubs in the world from an economic perspective, and now we need the on-field success to match it.
