Report: Spurs would rather swap multiple players than pay cash for Matt Doherty

Off The Ball have now reported that Tottenham Hotspur want to offer Wolves players rather than cash in a deal to bring Matt Doherty to North London this summer.

Miguel Delaney from the Independent previously reported that a £12m fee had been agreed between the two clubs, with a potential for an extra £4m in add-ons.

However, this new report from the Off The Ball claims that Spurs are closing in on a deal worth around £15m, but are looking to avoid having to pay in cash.

The Lilywhites are said to want to offer Wolves one or two players in exchange for the Irish defender, although such players are not named. Such a desire is listed as a possible reason behind the hold-up on a final agreement.

The report adds that Mourinho has been keen on the right-back for months now, but Spurs have worked hard to keep such interest a secret.
