Report: Spurs weighing up offer for highly-rated teenage forward

Reports in the Portuguese media are suggesting that Tottenham Hotspur are preparing an offer for Benfica’s Joao “Jota” Felipe this summer.

Record claim that Spurs have already made contact on a number of occasions this season for the player who can operate as a left-winger or a central striker.

The 20-year-old made his breakthrough into the Benfica first team this season having come through the youth ranks and impressed for the reserve team.

Jota finished as joint top-scorer with five goals when Portugal won the Under-19s European Championships last summer and was also named in the team of the tournament which made a number of clubs across Europe sit up and take notice.

He is under contract at Benfica until 2022 and has a release clause worth around £25million. (A Bola). However, the Eagles are said to be keen to try and tie him down to a new deal and subsequently increase his release clause (Telegraph).

Tottenham need to try and find some talent who can substantially help Harry Kane with the goalscoring burden, while Heung-min Son certainly helps out on the goal-front, many other players have not scored as many goals as expected.
