Report: Spurs will consider swap deal for out-of-favour Giovani Lo Celso

Tottenham are considering a swap deal that would see Giovani Lo Celso leave the club this month, according to The Athletic.

Argentina international Lo Celso has struggled to make an impact this season having made just nine appearances in the Premier League (Transfermarkt), adding to his long-term patchy form since joining the club in 2019.

The 25-year-old was recently left out of Tottenham’s 2-0 defeat to Chelsea at the weekend, but later revealed on his Instagram that his omission was not related to injury.

With Lo Celso seemingly out of favour under Antonio Conte, The Athletic claim Spurs are looking at shifting him on as part of a swap deal for a player this month.

The report adds that Lo Celso joins a list of players including Tanguy Ndombele and Dele Alli who have been tipped to depart North London.

CalcioMercato recently revealed that Fiorentina’s Sofyan Amrabat is the latest to emerge as a potential midfield reinforcement before the January 31 deadline.

Conte clearly doesn’t fancy Lo Celso to play much of a role in the side going forward and Spurs need reinforcements, so that will depend on who they can shift out with the little time remaining. He has lacked consistency and the ability to stay fit for the majority of his stint which has made the move a pretty big disaster.
