Report: Spurs will do ‘everything possible’ to sign Polish midfielder Postecoglou is ‘keen’ on

According to Turkish outlet Star Gazetesi (as translated by Sport Witness), Tottenham Hotspur have now turned their attention to Fenerbahce midfielder Sebastian Szymanski.

Szymanski has been a huge hit since leaving Dynamo Moscow to join Fenerbahce 18 months ago, with the midfielder spending last season on loan at the Turkish side before making a permanent move last summer.

The versatile 24-year-old, who can operate as a central midfielder, a number eight or even wide on the right, has been one of the best players on show in the Super Lig this season, having scored 12 goals and registered 14 assists across all competitions so far (Transfermarkt).

Tottenham now keen on Sebastian Szymanski

Star Gazetesi say that Szymanski’s displays in Istanbul this season have caught the attention of Tottenham, who allegedly sent scouts to Turkey to watch the midfielder in action against Samsunspor on Sunday.

The report adds that Ange Postecoglou is ‘very keen’ on bringing the player to Hotspur Way and that Spurs ‘will do everything possible’ to make that a reality before the February 1 deadline.

The publication adds that Fenerbahce value the Poland international at €35m (£30m) despite having signed him for just €9.7m (£8.3m) last summer.

Spurs Web Opinion

Szymanski is certainly posting some ridiculous numbers this season but £30m is a steep fee to pay for a player who has a good 12 months in Turkish football. It is unlikely that Spurs would pay that much for the Fenerbahce star when one considers that they could potentially land Gallagher for around £40m-£45m.
