Report: Spurs will face competition from Ligue 1 club for striker

Monaco have reportedly joined the race for Fenerbahce striker Vedat Muriqi and are ready to compete with Tottenham and Manchester United for the striker’s signature according to reports from Turkey.

Fanatik report that the Ligue 1 club consider Muriqi as the long-term replacement for Islam Slimani, who will be on his way back to the Premier League in the summer.

Slimani, who is on loan at Monaco from Leicester City was said to have requested for his stint to be cut short after hearing of interest from both Spurs and Manchester United last month (The Sun).

Spurs were linked with a move for the Muriqi last month with Aksam reporting that the Champions League finalists made an offer for Kosovan international only for it to be rejected out of hand by Fenerbahce.

Other reports have suggested that Manchester United also hold an interest in bringing Muriqi to Old Trafford (Sabah).

The 26-year-old is continuing his impressive form for the Turkish giants, having managed thirteen goals and five assists so far this campaign (transfermarkt).

Spurs Web Opinion

The more I think about it, the more I’m convinced that the club decided against signing a striker last month since the ones Jose Mourinho wanted were not available midseason. I am confident that we will sign a centre forward in the summer and Muriqi with his impressive hold-up ability, will certainly give us a different option.
