Report: Spurs will have to pay £17.7m if they want to sign defender this summer

According to the print edition of SportBILD (22/03/23 as relayed by Sport Witness), Tottenham Hotspur are one of three clubs eyeing a move for VfB Stuttgart left-back Borna Sosa ahead of the summer transfer window.

Sosa has been one of the most productive attacking wing-backs in the Bundesliga for the last few years.

Tottenham’s interest in the 25-year-old first came to light last week when BILD (15/03/23 via Sport Witness) reported that the player had made up his mind to leave the Bundesliga club to pursue a new challenge in the summer.

The same publication has now offered another update on the left-back’s future, explaining that Spurs could face competition for the player’s services.

It is asserted that the Premier League club look set to battle Real Sociedad and Sevilla for Sosa’s signature this summer.

The report adds that Stuttgart rejected an offer of around €10m (£8.8m) for the Croat’s services during the January transfer window and that Bruno Labbadia’s men are expected to demand €20m (£17.7m) for the left-back in the summer.

Spurs Web Opinion

Tottenham could be in the market for a left-back in the summer despite Destiny Udogie arriving at the club.

Neither Ivan Perisic and Ryan Sessegnon have convinced this season and I would not be surprised if both players are let go.

However, the decision on who to pursue will likely be made by the club’s next head coach, depending on whether he prefers playing with a back three or a back four.
