Report: Spurs will hold talks with Pierluigi Gollini over possible loan extension

According to TuttoMercatoWeb, Tottenham Hotspur wish to keep Pierluigi Gollini at the club beyond the end of his loan spell.

Gollini has not featured for a single minute in the Premier League for Spurs since arriving on loan from Atalanta last summer (Transfermarkt).

It was previously reported that the North Londoners had decided against taking up the option to buy the Italian permanently (Goal), with the club allegedly keen on signing West Brom goalkeeper Sam Johnstone as Hugo Lloris’ understudy (The Sun).

However, TMW have now claimed that Spurs want Gollini to remain at the club next season.

It is explained that while the North Londoners are not willing to activate the €15m (£12.6m) option to buy the goalkeeper, they are keen on extending his loan deal.

It is alleged that Gollini’s entourage will hold discussions with the Spurs hierarchy at the end of the season to explore the possibility of an extension.

However, the report adds that the Italian international is also of interest to Serie A clubs ahead of the summer.

Spurs Web Opinion

From the outside, it appears as if Gollini is great for squad morale and so, it is not surprising that Spurs wish to keep him. However, the 27-year-old might not be keen on warming the bench for another 12 months, particularly if he has an opportunity to be the number one at a different club next season.
