Report: Spurs will listen to offers for two players – but neither want to leave

Football.London’s Alasdair Gold has revealed that Sergio Reguilon and Emerson Royal are not keen to leave Tottenham this summer.

Both Reguilon and Emerson struggled to adapt to the demands of the wing-back role in Antonio Conte’s system and did not deliver the kind of attacking output expected of them.

The two players fell behind Ryan Sessegnon and Matt Doherty in the pecking order respectively, although Emerson did get a run of starts towards the end of the campaign after the Republic of Ireland international picked up an injury.

Spurs have already strengthened at left wing-back with the addition of Ivan Perisic this summer and previous reports indicated that the club are ready to cash in on Reguilon (Football Insider).

Meanwhile, Tottenham are also thought to be keen on signing Middlesbrough’s Djed Spence to strengthen at right wing-back (Sky Sports) while Atletico Madrid have been credited with an interest in taking Emerson back to La Liga (Tuttomercatoweb).

Alasdair Gold has now explained that Spurs are listening to offers for the Brazilian and the Spaniard despite both players wanting to stay at the club.

Spurs Web Opinion

Emerson and Reguilon are both very likeable personalities and both players are competent full-backs in a back four. However, neither are capable of delivering the sort of attacking output that Conte expects of his wing-backs, and so Spurs do not have much choice but to cash in on the pair.
