Report: Spurs will look towards this major league for transfer bargains this summer

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly decided to look towards France for new recruits in the upcoming summer transfer window.

Multiple reports (Telegraph and Mirror) have indicated that Tottenham have little money to spend this summer and will have to prioritise loan deals and free transfers.

Football Insider now reports that Spurs are convinced that there are some great bargains to be had in France with many Ligue 1 clubs said to be desperate for cash.

The cancellation of the French league has reportedly left many clubs with no choice but to sell players on cut-price deals. It is said that Ligue 1 is facing a £175 million financial black hole and we could thus see an exodus of players in the coming months.

Spurs want to be in prime position to take advantage and land some bargain deals, with Monaco’s Benoit Badiashile provided as an example of the type of player Tottenham have their eyes on.

The report claims that Badiashile’s price has been slashed after Monaco’s failure to qualify for the Champions League and that Spurs are keeping tabs on the young centre-back ahead of a potential summer move.

Spurs Web Opinion

A lot of Premier League clubs will likely be looking towards France this summer in order to make the most of the opportunities that present themselves. While having the likes of Joao Sacramento onboard is certainly a positive for us given his experience in Ligue 1, this also shows why Luis Campos would have been an unbelievable asset to have on board given his unparalleled expertise on the French market.
