Report: Spurs will not let player leave until they have found a replacement

Relevo journalist Matteo Moretto has claimed that Bryan Gil remains Valencia’s number one target but Tottenham are not willing to let the winger leave for the moment.

Fabrizio Romano revealed last week that Valencia are continuing talks with Tottenham over re-signing Gil on loan on the back of the winger’s successful spell at the club during the second half of last season.

However, he added that Antonio Conte’s men had not yet given the green light for the winger to leave the club.

On Tuesday, Tribuna Deportiva journalist Hector Gomez stated that Gennaro Gattuso’s side could turn their attentions to Liile’s Timothy Weah and Watford’s Nacho Pussetto after Spurs ‘stopped’ the exit of Gil.

Moretto has now taken to social media to claim that while Valencia are eyeing Weah and Pussetto, Gil remains the La Liga club’s ‘absolute priority’.

The journalist said the Spanish club’s pursuit of the 21-year-old ‘is still alive’ but added that Tottenham would only let the player leave once they have secured a replacement.

Given that Conte has spoken of the need for two players in each position, it makes sense to sign another attacker before letting Gil leave. Perhaps, Spurs are looking to conclude a deal for Ruslan Malinovskyi before letting the Spaniard return to Valencia.
