The Times have revealed that Tottenham Hotspur will travel to Australia to take on Newcastle United in a post-season friendly just three days after the conclusion of the Premier League season.
Spurs end the season with a trip away to Bramall Lane on 19 May, with the game potentially set to have a lot riding on it, with the race of Champions League qualification looking likely to go down to the wire.
Tottenham vs Newcastle in Australia
However, The Times have now revealed that soon after the fixture, the squad will make a 10,000-mile trip to Melbourne to take on the Magpies at the famous Melbourne Cricket Ground.
The venue holds over 100,000 people and the clash represents a homecoming for Ange Postecoglou, who grew up in Melbourne, and played for and managed South Melbourne.
Spurs also played a friendly in Australia last summer, taking on London rivals West Ham United in Perth in Postecoglou’s first game in charge.

The two sets of players and managers will not relish this trip after a long and hard season and one would not be surprised if both Spurs and Newcastle put out a severely weakened team, particularly with the Euros set to kick off in June.
