Report: Spurs will ‘try again’ for player after failing to sign him in the past

The Daily Mail have asserted that Tottenham will make a fresh attempt to sign Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace this summer.

Irrespective of who takes over as Spurs’ next head coach, one would expect reinforcements in central defence to be a priority for the club in the summer transfer window.

Geuhi is thought to be one of the names on Tottenham’s radar, with Football Transfers reporting two weeks ago that the North London club believe the 22-year-old is a perfect fit for the profile of defender they are looking for.

The report added that although the Lilywhites are currently leading the race for the England international’s signature, they could face competition from Manchester United for the youngster.

The Mail have now become the latest publication to report on Tottenham’s interest in Guehi ahead of the summer.

The outlet claims that the club have expressed an interest in the Palace star for the last two transfer windows and are expected to try to sign him again when the window opens.

Guehi would tick a lot of boxes for Spurs, given his age, his versatility and the fact that he is homegrown.

However, the 22-year-old is contracted until 2026 at Selhurst Park, which means that he is certainly not going to come cheap.

Palace could demand a fee of more than £60m for the centre-back.
