Report: Spurs willing to offer any of three players in exchange for 22-year-old

The Telegraph have claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are willing to offer any of Djed Spence, Joe Rodon and Bryan Gil to Nottingham Forest as a part of a deal to sign Brennan Johnson.

Johnson shot to the limelight during the 2021-22 campaign, with the youngster establishing himself as a regular in the Forest starting eleven and playing a key role in the club’s promotion to the top flight.

The attacking midfielder had no issues making the step up to the Premier League last season, managing 10 goals and three assists across all competitions (Transfermarkt).

This is not the first time that the 22-year-old has been mooted as a target for Spurs, with Football Insider reporting back in April that the Lilywhites were keeping tabs on the player.

The Daily Mail also subsequently stated last month that Johnson was on Tottenham’s radar but the publication asserted that North London club would be reluctant to meet Forest’s £50m valuation of the youngster.

Spurs exploring a part-exchange deal for Johnson

If The Telegraph’s latest update is to be believed, Spurs have now come up with a strategy to bring down the price by offering some of their players to Forest.

The report states that Tottenham ‘remain interested’ in Johnson and are now ‘weighing up’ an offer for the versatile attacker.

The outlet claim that Spurs have contacted Forest and given them a choice of signing Spence, Rodon and Gil as part of any deal for the Wales international.

Spurs Web Opinion

While I can understand Spurs offering Spence and Rodon, I am surprised that the club are willing to offload Gil. The Spaniard’s characteristics suit the way Postecoglou wants to play and I can see the winger thriving under the Australian if he gets opportunities.
