Report: Spurs willing to part with midfielder to land long-term transfer target

Tottenham Hotspur are prepared to allow one of their academy graduates to leave the club as part of a deal to sign a long-term transfer target.

The Daily Mail report that Spurs are prepared to part company with Josh Onomah in order to land Ryan Sessegnon.

The 19-year-old did not feature for Fulham in their 1-0 defeat at Barnsley yesterday after it was claimed by manager Scott Parker that he is currently recovering from a hamstring injury (Metro).

Sessegnon has under twelve months to run on his contract at the Championship side and the report suggests that the deal will be completed ahead of the window closing on Thursday and it would be ‘unexpected’ if it fell through.

Onomah has spent the last two seasons out on loan in the Championship with Aston Villa and Sheffield Wednesday and while the spells were supposed to further his footballing education, he has found himself way down in the North London midfield pecking order.

Opinion

The 22-year-old has not featured once during pre-season for Tottenham and it is likely that his days at the club are numbered.
