Report: Spurs willing to sell defender in January

According to a report iby Football Insider, Tottenham Hotspur are willing to listen to offers for Cameron Carter-Vickers during the January transfer window.

The 21-year-old defender is currently on a season-long loan at Stoke City but the report claims that Spurs have an option to terminate the loan deal early should they strike a deal with any club in January.

It is reported that Spurs will let the defender leave on a permanent basis should they receive an offer of £4million next month.

Carter-Vickers has failed to make an impression at Stoke this season and has recently lost his place in the side after Michael O’Neill took over as manager, with many fans frustrated with his performances (Stoke Sentinel).

This is the USA international’s fourth successive loan spell having previously had stints at Swansea City, Ipswich Town and Sheffield United.

If the report in Football Insider is to be believed, it looks like the club have now decided that it is time to move the youngster on.

It will be a shame if he is let go in January as it did look like he would make the step up to the first team a couple of years ago. Pochettino seemed to rate him quite highly but that promise has faded away in the last year and a half. He will certainly be a solid signing for most Championship clubs if he is to leave.
