Report: Spurs winger set for ‘cut-price’ January exit

According to Football Insider, Anthony Georgiou could be on his way out of Tottenham before the end of the month after the club gave the player permission to talk to AEL Limassol to discuss personal terms.

Georgiou joined the Tottenham academy in 2013 and came through the ranks to make his senior debut for the club in a Champions League clash in 2017 against APOEL.

However, that has been the only competitive first-team appearance that the Cypriot international has made so far for the Lilywhites even though he did play his part in pre-season tours under Mauricio Pochettino.

The 23-year-old had loan spells at Ipswich Town and Bolton Wanderers last season but failed to make much of an impression at either club.

Football Insider reveal that Spurs are prepared to let Georgiou leave this month, with Limassol showing interest.

It is said that the North Londoners are ready to accept a cut-price offer as the wide man only has six months left on his contract at the club.

Limassol have reportedly offered Georgiou a contract and he is said to be in talks with the Cypriot club about a potential move before the end of the month.

Georgiou never looked like he had enough about him to play as a winger or a wide forward. If he was going to make it at the top level, I always suspected that he had to adapt into a wing-back. However, at 23 years of age, it does seem like it is time to move him on.
