Report: Spurs working on finalising permanent sale before transfer deadline

According to Football Insider, Tottenham Hotspur are working on finalising the sale of Cameron Carter-Vickers before this evening’s transfer deadline.

Carter-Vickers started the first leg of Tottenham’s Europa Conference League play-off against Pacos De Ferriera two weeks ago in what was his first competitive appearance for the club since 2017.

However, Football Insider now claim the centre-back is not part of Nuno Espirito Santo’s plans, with the Spurs boss having given the green light for the player’s sale.

The report reveals that Bournemouth showed interest in signing the centre-back after his impressive displays on loan at the Vitality Stadium last season.

However, it is explained that the Cherries have now pulled out of the race for Carter-Vickers after snapping up Gary Cahill.

Football Insider add that Tottenham are now holding talks with various clubs about the permanent sale of the 23-year-old.

This update comes off the back of reports this morning that Newcastle United were in talks with Spurs regarding a deal for the USA international.

I hope Carter-Vickers gets his move before the transfer deadline as it is now evident that he is not going to make it at Spurs and he needs to be playing regularly at this stage of his career.

I suspect that the injury the defender picked up against Pacos probably stopped the defender from completing a move earlier in the window.

Given the way he performed last season, one would certainly expect plenty of Championship clubs to be lining up for the 23-year-old’s signature.
