Report: Spurs would have to pay over £60m to land Postecoglou target this summer

Football Insider have claimed that it would take an offer of around £60m-£70m to poach rumoured Tottenham target Jarrad Branthwaite from Everton this summer.

Branthwaite has had a sensational debut season in the Premier League and top clubs in the division are thought to be sniffing around the centre-back ahead of the summer transfer window.

Two weeks ago, TEAMtalk revealed that Ange Postecoglou had urged the Spurs hierarchy to bring the Toffees academy graduate to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this summer.

The report added that Man Utd and Bayern Munich were also keeping tabs on the centre-back’s situation at Goodison Park.

It was subsequently Florian Plettenberg last week that Everton are now demanding a whopping €93m (£80.2m) for the 21-year-old.

Jarrad Branthwaite will cost £60m-£70m this summer

However, according to Football Insider’s latest update, Man Utd are now confident that an offer of £60m-£70m would be enough to land Branthwaite.

It is explained that while the Toffees are keen to hang on to the youngster, they would have to sell some players in June in order to ensure they do not fall foul of the Premier League’s Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR) for the second year in a row.

As a result, the Red Devils are said to be ready to press ahead with an early-window deal for the England international.

Spurs Web Opinion

It would not make sense for Tottenham to splurge £60m-£70m on another centre-back this summer. The bulk of the club’s summer transfer funds will be spent on acquiring a new midfielder and a forward. Spurs are likely to pursue a cheap option like Tosin Adarabioyo to add cover to their backline.
