Report: Spurs would have to ‘really convince’ club to send them 18-year-old

According to a report in Relevo, Tottenham and other clubs have plenty of work to do if they are to convince Real Madrid to loan out Arda Guler next summer.

Guler is considered by many to be one of the best young talents to come out of Turkish football over the past few years but the attacking midfielder has found game time hard to come by since his switch to the Spanish capital last summer.

It was revealed by Ok Diario last week that Tottenham and Bayer Leverkusen were keeping track of the 18-year-old’s situation and that both clubs had offered to sign the teenager on loan in the summer.

A few days ago, the print edition of Super Deporte (via Sport Witness) backed up the interest of the German and the Premier League sides in the player, adding that AC Milan are also on the Turkey international’s trail.

Spurs may struggle to land Arda Guler

Relevo has now offered an update on the situation, explaining that Madrid do not see Guler’s lack of minutes as an issue as they always felt that he would need a period of adjustment.

However, it is explained that they believe that the teenager needs to bulk up and become physically stronger, with Los Blancos now said to be weighing up whether to send him out on loan.

The publication adds that interested suitors would have to ‘really convince’ Carlo Ancelotti’s men that Guler will get regular minutes under his belt.

Spurs Web Opinion

Tottenham generally do not sign players on loan without an option to buy while Postecoglou is not the sort of manager who makes assurances about guaranteed starts to even established players, let alone emerging youngsters. So, this deal seems like a complete non-starter.
