Report: Spurs would have to stump up loan fee to land Premier League forward

Crystal Palace want a £500,000 loan fee if they are to allow Christian Benteke to join another club on loan for the second half of the season, according to Sky Sports.

The Telegraph reported earlier this month that the 29-year-old was offered to Tottenham on loan this month as they seek to sign a replacement for the injured Harry Kane.

The report also claimed that Aston Villa were also keen on bringing Benteke back to Villa Park following the injury to striker Wesley who has been ruled out for the rest of the season with a knee issue.

The Belgian international has gone off the boil for the last two seasons and is yet to find the back of the net in 16 appearances for Palace in all competitions this campaign (transfermarkt).

The report in Sky Sports reveals that Ligue 1 club Bordeaux have ended their pursuit of the centre forward as they weren’t able to afford the half a million loan fee demanded by Palace.

Spurs Web Opinion

Of all the strikers we have been linked with this window, Benteke is arguably the worst option we could go for. While he is good in the air and can hold the ball up well, his scoring record has been shocking for a while now. I don’t believe the club will consider the Belgian as an option.
