Report: Spurs yet to give up on pursuit of Roma star – Paratici ‘not stopped following’

Tottenham have not yet given up on their pursuit of Roma winger Nicolo Zaniolo, according to CalcioMercato.

Zaniolo has been a long-standing target for Tottenham with interest stemming back as far as two seasons ago (Mirror).

However, a major knee injury sidelined him for a lengthy amount of time last season which has stunted his progression.

Despite this, CalcioMercato report that Spurs still maintain their interest in Zaniolo, with managing director Fabio Paratici tracking his performances over the last handful of months.

The report states Spurs are not alone in their pursuit of the Italy international, with Serie A giants Juventus also keen on securing a transfer.

Although it does not state how much it would take to prise Zaniolo away from Roma, CalcioMercato also reported in December that it would need as much as a €40 million (£33.3m) bid to tempt a future sale.

Zaniolo has made 26 appearances for the Giallorossi this season, registering four goals and five assists in the process (Transfermarkt).

Zaniolo has had some tough times with big injuries in recent seasons but he still remains one of Italy’s brightest talents. There will undoubtedly be plenty of interest from top sides too which will make it tough for Tottenham, but the club’s Italian contingent could work in their favour in a potential transfer.
