Report: Spurs yet to make an offer for rumoured Ndombele replacement

According to a report by ABC Sevilla, Tottenham Hotspur are yet to make an offer for William Carvalho, with the midfielder said to be open to staying at Real Betis.

Reports indicate that Spurs could be prepared to part ways with Tanguy Ndombele this summer on the back of his disappointing first season in North London (Guardian).

It was previously reported that Spurs were eyeing Carvalho as a potential replacement for the Frenchman, with Jose Mourinho said to be a fan of his compatriot (Transfer20).

It was suggested that Spurs could launch a bid for the 28-year-old who was rated by Betis at around £26million.

However, ABC Sevilla now claim that despite rumoured interest from Spurs, Leicester and Wolves; Betis have not received any offers for Carvalho.

It is claimed that the Portugal international is happy to stay with the La Liga outfit should a move not materialise this summer as he fits into new manager, Manuel Pellegrini’s plans.

The report reveals that the former Sporting Lisbon man could yet leave if Betis receive the right offer this summer but he would only do so for sporting reasons rather than financial gain.

Spurs Web Opinion

I would be extremely surprised if Ndombele is still at Tottenham next season, given that he does not seem to be in Mourinho’s plans. So, while I do expect us to cash in on the former Lyon man and sign a replacement, I do not think Carvalho would fit the bill. We need to be looking at investing the Ndombele money on options like Milinkovic-Savic, who can help take us to the next level.
