Report: Spurs youngster wants to fight for first-team instead of loan move

The Athletic have reported that Tottenham Hotspur’s Jack Clarke wants to stay at the club beyond the summer and fight for a place in the first-team under Nuno Espirito Santo.

It is said that there are a number of clubs interested in taking Clarke on loan, both in England and abroad, but the winger would prefer a North London stay.

Football London reported this week that there were two Championship clubs and one in Belgium that are interested in taking the youngster on loan.

Clarke remained at Tottenham for the first half of last season, appearing for Spurs in the U21s, Europa League and FA Cup before going out on loan to Stoke City in January.

At Stoke, he managed 14 appearances, recording two assists in that time. This was more impressive than his two 2019/20 loan spells at Leeds United and QPR where he managed a combined ten appearances in all competitions (TransferMarkt).

Spurs Web Opinion:

It’s a tough one for Clarke. If he stays for the first half of the season, he will get minutes here and there. But he will also rob himself of having a settled season at one club, which can be valuable as shown by Oliver Skipp last time out. I would lean towards a full-season loan to a Championship club.
