Report: Staggering claim that Spurs should sign £135m star

Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a few wingers already this transfer window, including Crystal Palace’s Wilfried Zaha (Express), Bournemouth’s Ryan Fraser (Express), and Leeds’ Jack Clarke (Daily Mail).

However, this next one may raise a few eyebrows among Tottenham fans, as HITC claim Spurs should go for Barcelona’s Ousmane Dembele.

Fans may remember that Barca paid a whopping £135m for the winger back in 2017 (BBC), a fee that is still the fourth highest in football history (ESPN).

However, Dembele has failed to hit the ground running at Barcelona, especially with the likes of Messi and Suarez ahead of him in the pecking order.

Dembele has played 29 games for Barca in La Liga this season, scoring eight goals. However, he only completed 90 minutes on two occasions through the entire Spanish League season (Transfer Markt).

The Daily Mail now report that Barcelona could be convinced to sell the player this summer, hence why HITC are keen on Spurs putting in a bid.

Spurs Web Opinion:

Not in a million years. Barcelona will more than likely want to recoup the majority of their transfer fee if they do sell the player, and Tottenham simply do not have the wage structure or funds to bring in that kind of player. Not to mention the fact that Dembele has not lived up to the price tag in Spain anyway. Plenty of better and cheaper options out there.
