Report: Star striker wanted by Tottenham ‘will not sign’ a new contract

According to Firenze Viola, Dusan Vlahovic has definitively decided that he will not be renewing his contract with Fiorentina.

Tottenham failed to get a deal for Vlahovic over the line during the summer despite being linked heavily with the centre-forward.

The 21-year-old’s current contract runs out in the summer of 2023 and Fiorentina owner Rocco Commisso has admitted he is unsure as to whether the striker will put pen to paper on a new contract with the club.

Reports from Italy have claimed that Spurs are ‘crazy’ about the Serbian international and are leading the race for his signature despite the likes of Juventus, Inter Milan and AC Milan also showing interest in the player.

Firenze Viola have now asserted that the chances of the striker renewing his contract with the Viola have evaporated. The report claims that Vlahovic’s entourage have closed the door to a contract extension.

There is said to be an insuperable stalemate in the negotiations between the player’s representatives and the Fiorentina hierarchy.

One would expect Fiorentina to cash in on Vlahovic in January rather than wait until next summer in order to ensure that they get maximum value for him in the market.

With Kane now looking unlikely to leave Spurs, it remains to be seen if the North London club will reignite their interest in the 21-year-old.
