Report: Starlet wants to stay at club despite alleged 3-year Spurs contract offer

Celtic are on the verge of tying down young full-back Mitchel Frame to a contract despite interest from Tottenham, according to Daily Record.

Frame, 16, has emerged as one of Scotland’s brightest talents having progressed through the Celtic youth system.

The young Scot currently does not have a contract in place with the Hoops given his age, meaning he could accept a deal from a different team if an offer came in.

However, the Daily Record notes Frame has made it known to Celtic that he is keen to remain at the club for the foreseeable future, which has provided them with a boost in terms of signing him to a professional deal.

The same report states that interest spreads across to Manchester City and Newcastle, who have been tracking his progress closely.

It could also serve as a dent in Tottenham’s pursuit going forward, after Football Scotland reported they were alongside Wolves and Crystal Palace in offering him a three-year deal respectively.

Celtic seem pretty keen to keep hold of Frame, and that isn’t surprising given how highly he is rated at the club and across Scotland.

The interest in the Premier League also shows just how regarded he is, which means Spurs will have a fight on their hands if they are to pursue a transfer going forward.

But as a 16-year-old, the next move for him is massive in what is such a young careers, so this will be one that needs to be monitored.
