Tottenham Hotspur’s search for a new head coach took another twist yesterday following reports that the club have held discussions with Mauricio Pochettino about a return to North London.
The Athletic claimed that the Argentine is pen to a return to the club after failing to settle at Paris Saint-Germain.
The Daily Mail have reported that central to Tottenham’s desire to bring the 49-year-old back to the Premier League is Steve Hitchen.
The technical performance director is said to be ‘banging the Argentine’s drum’ to try to complete a sensational u-turn after Daniel Levy sacked Pochettino following five years in charge in November 2019.
Levy’s attempts to try to lure back the former head coach from the French capital is described as being a gamble with the pair claimed to have been on poor terms when he was dismissed along with the fact that Pochettino’s relationship with some of his players were also damaged.
While the heart of many Spurs fans will say yes to Pochettino returning to the club, the head says a lot must happen for a sensational return to take place given the fact he still has a year to run on his contract in France.
