Report: Steve Hitchen lands new job after Spurs exit – Involves Reece James and Anthony Gordon

The Telegraph’s Matt Law has revealed that Steve Hitchen has taken over as the director of football at the agency, Unique Sports Group.

Hitchen arrived at Spurs in 2016 as a chief scout from Derby County before becoming the club’s technical director in 2018.

The Englishman resigned from his role at the North London club in February of last year, with The Athletic reporting at the time that he decided to leave as he had most of his power after Fabio Paratici was appointed as Tottenham’s managing director of football in 2021.

Steve Hitchen has a new job after Tottenham

It was suggested by The Daily Mail during the summer that Hitchen could reunite with former Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino at Chelsea, which did not materialise.

Almost two years on from his exit from Tottenham it has emerged that the former Spurs director has been appointed as the director of football at Unique Sports Group, whose client list includes the likes of Chelsea’s Reece James and Newcastle’s Anthony Gordon.

One would imagine that Hitchen’s role at Unique Sports Group would be quite similar to the one he has had at Spurs, whereby he would be in charge of identifying the best talent for the agency to recruit and add to their client list.
