Report: Steve Hitchen quits job at Tottenham – Now being targeted by PL rivals

The Telegraph have reported that Steve Hitchen has resigned from his job at Tottenham Hotspur, just days after the closure of the January transfer window.

Hitchen, who held the role of Director of Technical Performance at Tottenham this season, is now being targeted by Everton after five years in North London.

Levy’s right-hand-man reportedly became frustrated by his reduced role at the club over the past two transfer windows, following the hiring of Fabio Paratici at Spurs.

Before the summer of 2021, Hitchen basically served as a director of football and was very popular among those at the Hotspur Way training ground, including Mauricio Pochettino.

However, over the past six months, Hitchen’s role was allegedly reduced to ‘overseeing the club’s medical, sports science and analysis departments’. Therefore, he informed Daniel Levy of his decision to part ways with the club after the January window.

Meanwhile, Everton are looking to replace Marcel Brands and hand Frank Lampard a director of football to work under, eyeing up Hitchen as a potential option.

In the past 18-months alone, The Telegraph claim Spurs have lost over 100 years’ worth of experience in an ‘unprecedented’ string of departures.

Spurs Web Opinion:

Thank you Steve for all your hard work over the past five years. Hopefully, we see you back in a Premier League role in the near future. I always thought Hitchen got a lot of unfair criticism from the Spurs fanbase, particularly after the documentary aired.
