Tottenham Hotspur could seal the transfer of Juventus’ Dejan Kulusevski in the coming hours, according to the Italian news outlet La Repubblica.

The Athletic’s David Ornstein revealed earlier this afternoon that the north Londoners were working on a deal for the Swedish international which is likely to be an initial loan spell for the remainder of the campaign.

La Repubblica claim that ‘in the next few hours, the white smoke could also arrive’ which is a reference to the signal used at the Sistine Chapel when a new pope is elected.

Spurs and Arsenal are both keen on the player, however, it is said that Spurs have raced into pole position.

Tottenham’s managing director of football, Fabio Paratici knows Kulusevski well from their time together in Turin with the Italian report suggesting he is prepared to bring him to London on loan with an obligation to buy, which is to the satisfaction of Juventus.

The 21-year-old has made 20 Serie A appearances for Juventus this season but has only started in half of those, completing the full 90 minutes just three times (transfermarkt).

A move for highly-rated Porto winger Luis Diaz appeared to be on the cards, only for Liverpool to steal a march on their Premier League rivals (Sky Sports).

Tottenham are bordering on panic stations with the transfer window set to close on Monday and are still yet to get anything through the door with Luis Diaz and Adama Traore heading elsewhere.

Levy and Paratici need to move fast to appease the Spurs fans who are fully behind Antonio Conte, and the tide is turning toxic against the pair.
