Report: Striker linked with Spurs emerges as target for Manchester United

Manchester United have reportedly entered the race for Borussia Monchengladbach forward Alassane Plea, according to reports from Germany.

Tottenham have been long-term admirers of Plea having made a £23million bid for him in the summer of 2018 while he was still playing for Nice (RMC Sport).

The striker insread ended up making the move to the Bundesliga and has become a first-team regular for Monchengladbach.

The Frenchman has scored eight goals and provided seven assists in 22 league appearances for the German side during the current campaign (transfermarkt).

German outlet Express.de (as translated by Daily Star) claim that the 27-year-old’s form has attracted Manchester United’s interest with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said to be keen to bolster his forward line.

It is claimed that the former Nice forward is among a group of strikers which the Old Trafford outfit are examining ahead of the transfer window.

The report suggests that Spurs still hold an interest in Plea and are said and are interested in recruiting him as a back-up for Harry Kane.

Spurs Web Opinion

It is possible that this link has arisen solely from the fact that we tried to sign him a couple of years ago. There is no other report indicating our interest in Plea this summer and so I would be extremely surprised if he was one of the names on our radar.
