Report suggests player could now have future at Spurs after Conte’s departure

Estadio Deportivo have suggested that Antonio Conte’s departure from Tottenham could potentially hand a lifeline for Giovani Lo Celso in North London.

Lo Celso has endured a frustrating, injury-hit campaign, with a hamstring problem keeping the midfielder out of Argentina’s historic World Cup campaign.

Villarreal do not have the option to buy the 26-year-old permanently, which means they have to negotiate a deal with Spurs in the summer if they wish to sign the player.

However, Estadio Deportivo have now suggested that the Tottenham man might now reconsider his options after Conte’s departure from Hotspur Way.

The report states that Lo Celso’s exit from Spurs was previously ‘taken for granted’ but that is no longer the case as his future could depend on who the Lilywhites’ next head coach is.

It is said that the Argentine’s future is now ‘more open than ever’ and could change from ‘one day to the next’.

Estadio Deportivo contend that should someone like Vincent Kompany takeover at N17, Lo Celso might ‘fit perfectly’ into his plans at Spurs.

The likes of Lo Celso, Ndombele, Spence, Gil and Winks might all look at Conte’s departure as a potential lifeline for their Tottenham careers.

One would think that whoever the new manager is, he might want to take a closer look at these players in pre-season before making a decision on their futures.
