Report suggests Spurs could still move for another left-wing-back after Perisic

The Evening Standard have suggested Tottenham could use Ivan Perisic’s versatility across the squad which may not block the club from moving for Eintracht Frankfurt wing-back Filip Kostic.

Spurs are set to sign Perisic on a two-year deal with the Croatia international undergoing a medical on Monday ahead of a free transfer from Inter Milan (Sky Sports).

The 33-year-old will be one of Antonio Conte’s first summer signings, with the Italian having requested the club to bring in at least six new players ahead of the new season (Telegraph).

Perisic’s imminent move to North London will also see him link back up with Conte, with the pair enjoying success at Inter where they claimed the Serie A title in 2020-21.

The Evening Standard claims Perisic is expected to predominantly be used at left wing-back and challenge youngster Ryan Sessegnon, but could be played further forward as a No.10 or on either wing.

The report also notes that his potential place on the left flank may not have completely killed Tottenham’s pursuit of another left wing-back, namely Frankfurt’s Kostic.

The 29-year-old is thought to be a prime option for Spurs this summer after piecing together an impressive campaign for the German side (Mirror), who claimed honours in the Europa League.

However, Fabrizio Romano recently provided an update on Spurs’ interest in Kostic, with the Italian transfer expert suggesting negotiations are not currently at an advanced stage.

Perisic’s versatility could prove to be such a valuable asset for Tottenham as he can be deployed in all the wide areas and in a central attacking position if needed.

To be getting a player that has so much to offer on a free transfer is great business, while his experience should also go a long way towards improving those around him.
